Lighting the future with the Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence.

“This house of light and love stands around us now because those who came before us had a dream and a vision. This community exists today because those who came before us lived a life greater that their own. It is for us to keep faith with them; it is for us to keep faith with the future.”

-Open letter to the Congregation

In an attempt to address the serious threat of climate change, the Unitarian Society of Northampton decided to take action. After divesting from fossil fuels, the congregation decided to go solar to power their historic Northampton building located in the heart of downtown.

Northeast Solar designed and installed the solar panel array that will help reduce the impact the Unitarian Society has on the environment. The 17,000 kWh system will save an estimated 13 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually!

Watch this video to hear Sarah Metcalf talk about the Society’s decision to go solar and how it feels to know that their house is run by the sun.
