Gregory Garrison joined Northeast Solar in 2010 and became its President in 2014. Before solar, Greg spent twenty years building companies that supported the transportation industry. Today he is focused on paying back his substantial carbon debt through education, community action, conservation, and the installation of solar power. Outside of solar, Greg is a photographer, hiker, and motorcycle enthusiast.
Meet the Northeast Solar Team
David Baird is our resident master electrician and oversees residential and commercial solar installations. Prior to becoming an electrician, Dave worked in the textiles industry where he was responsible for quality assurance as well as holding the titles of Administrative Support Manager and Production Supervisor. He has degrees in both Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Western New England College. When Dave's not installing solar, he can be found on the golf course.
Andrew combines an M.A. in environmental policy with years of computer consulting experience. A former Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras, he came to Northeast Solar after attending GCC’s Renewable Energy program. Andrew applies his experience to solar site evaluations, PV array modeling, and web-based monitoring. When he’s not in the office, he’s working on house projects, playing music or playing softball.
Zach has been the Business Development Manager at Northeast Solar since 2012. During that time, he has worked with hundreds of families, business, and farms in Western Mass. Zach worked on environmental issues with AmeriCorps and won the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management's Green Seal Award after graduating from UMass with a degree in Natural Resources. Zach’s roots run deep in the Valley and he has lived in Northampton for over twenty years. When he’s not talking solar he can be found exploring the outdoors with his wife and three-year-old daughter or seen riding his bike.
Rusty’s been with Northeast Solar for seven years. He started out as a crew leader on the installation side and now works as a solar consultant and salesperson. Rusty graduated from UNC-Wilmington for Environmental Studies and got a certificate in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency from Greenfield Community College. When he's not on the phone with customers or on a site visit, he can be found hiking with his wife and dog. He’s also a Ultimate Frisbee player with Boston Dig and has played professionally, traveling internationally, winning titles and championships along the way.
Justin was born and raised in the Pioneer Valley. He is a graduate of Bristol Community College’s green energy technology program in Fall River, Massachusetts. Before starting his career in solar, he earned his BA in music from University of Massachusetts, Amherst. When he’s not designing solar installations, he is playing drums or teaching music.
Phil is a graduate of the Renewable Energy Program at Greenfield Community College and holds a Massachusetts unrestricted construction supervisors license. He has ten years of experience installing and designing solar electric and solar thermal systems. As the Installation Supervisor, Phil is responsible for Northeast Solar's install crews and oversees all commercial and residential jobs from start to finish.
Chi Lin is an environmentalist who wears many hats at Northeast Solar. He conducts site visits, designs residential solar systems, and can occasionally be found on a roof assisting with an installation. A graduate of Evergreen State College in Washington State, he has worked both in the lab and in the field and brings enthusiasm and creativity to the team. He is a native of both the east and west coasts, and can be found on the basketball court, in front of an easel painting, or on the trail looking for a place to pitch camp.
Tom joined Northeast Solar in 2014 and is the latest installer to shift to sales. Time on the roof and in the office means Tom knows all the ins and outs associated with going solar. Tom graduated from Westfield State University in 2013 with degrees in Management and Economics. When Tom’s not helping home and business owners navigate the intricacies of solar, he’s spending time outdoors or perfecting his home brew recipes.
Our install team is a hardworking bunch. You’ll probably see them driving through town in one of our trucks or installing solar on your neighbor’s roof. Our crew is made up of artists, athletes, and dedicated community members who share a passion for sustainable energy. Say hi when you see them, they’re nice.
